Abstract
A new cprinid fish species, Garra nambulica is described from the feeder streams of the Nambul River (Chindwin basin) of Manipur, India. The new species has the following combination of characters:Â head squarish; no proboscis and transverse groove on snout; mental disc length 96.9% (92.8-102.7) its own width, predorsal scales irregularly arranged, its number 16-29 counted along row adjacent to the midline; chest and belly naked; post pelvic region scaled; gill rakers 10; caudal fin with a W-shaped blue black band.
