Published 2007-07-21

Abstract

Puntius arulius and Puntius tambraparniei are two closely related endangered ornamental fishes of Western Ghat mountain ranges in peninsular India. Diploid chromosome of both the species is 2n = 50 with NF values of 90 and 94 respectively. Results on the topotype specimens revealed them to be distinct genotypes.
